Purdue VPN Interface FAQs
- How can I change the routes that are added after the successful connection?
- It is possible to override the default routes (all Purdue subnets) with the use of a file named routes.txt
placed in the same directory as the executable file. The format for the file one entry per line with the
following format for each entry: ip address <space> subnet mask.
An example entry would be: "192.168.0.0 255.255.0.0".
This would route all traffic to IP addresses beginning with 192.168 through the VPN connection.
A sample routes.txt file to route all Purdue traffic over the VPN can be downloaded here.
NOTE: The routes.txt file must be in the same directory as the executable file downloaded from the main help page.
NOTE: The use of a routes.txt file will override all default routes. Therefore any routes you desire to use MUST be listed as well.
- I cannot get a successful VPN connection and I am using a router on my home network.
- If you have a Linksys Cable/DSL router, you must enable the PPTP Pass Through option to use the VPN service. This may apply to other brands as well.
